Motorcycles are always welcome at Grand Vista! Following is an article reprinted from the Oct. 3, 2013, edition of the Oneida Independent Herald newspaper:

HUNTSVILLE — On Saturday, 40 members of the Music City Harley Owners Group (Nashville, TN) chose Scott County for the destination of their annual “Mystery Overnight Ride”. What’s is a Mystery Ride? Only the ride leader knows the ride route, the stops along the way and the ultimate destination.

According to Gary Bagwell, event planner, “The decision to ride to Scott County was an easy one, the area around the Big South Fork has some of the best motorcycling roads in Tennessee!”

Stops along the tour included the Appalachian Center for Craft, Calfkiller Brewery, Arda Lee’s Hidden Hollow and the Muddy Pond Mennonite Community.

“Today we visited Americana craft producers of art, beer, quirky nostaligia and homemade goods," Bagwell said. "Not only was Huntsville a fitting ending to the day, the people in this area have been wonderful to us. From the staff at Grand Vista Lodge to the caterer, County’s BBQ, we could not have asked for a better reception, we’ll be back for sure!”

Scott County wants motorcycle touring groups to return, too, in large numbers.

Jim Hall, Assistant Director of Music City HOG says “We love exploring Tennessee on our Harley-Davidson motorcycles and you can count on our members doing two things- having fun and spending money!”

David Terry, GM of the Grand Vista Hotel commented “We thought we knew what to expect with this group, and frankly they exceeded our expectations. I could tell from their interaction with our staff, HOG is a group we want to partner with in the future.”

The group rode out Sunday morning headed for Blue Heron, but of course no one knew that except Bagwell, as it was another featured stop on the “Mystery Ride”!

With over 850,000 members, The Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.) is the largest factory sponsored motorcycle club in the world. There are 1450 Chapters in 150 countries worldwide. In Tennessee there are 19 HOG Chapters with approximately 10,000 members. For more information contact Gary Bagwell at 615-948-0992.
